Data retention

Kept for a reason. Not forever.

Kurukoo keeps what it needs to run the job, resolve a dispute and meet the law. You can delete your account and the rest.

Effective 23 October 2026 · Version 1.0

The categories

What is kept, and why.

  • Account and profile: while your account is active. Deleted when you delete the account, except where a legal record is needed.
  • Requests and chat: while the account is active and through the dispute window. Then deleted or de-identified, except for records needed for an open dispute, fraud investigation or legal obligation.
  • Quotes and completion proof: kept for the dispute window and a reasonable period after, so a later fraud report can be checked.
  • Payment and ledger records: kept for the period required by tax and accounting law. The original record is never deleted; a refund writes a reversal.
  • Provider verification records: while the provider is active and for a reasonable period after, so a check can be audited.
  • Support messages: until the issue is resolved and for a reasonable period after.
  • Cookies and local storage: until they expire or you clear them. See the cookies page.
  • Security logs: kept for a short period for troubleshooting and abuse prevention, then deleted or aggregated.
Deleting your account

In the app, or by email.

Open My details and choose Delete account. We remove the profile, the chat history and the requests that are not needed for a legal or accounting record. If you cannot get in, email hello@kurukoo.ng with 'Delete my account' in the subject and the phone number on the account.

Deleting the account does not cancel a job in progress. Finish or cancel it first, or tell support so the request and its payment route can be reviewed. Direct-pay funds remain with the provider.

Legal holds and backups

Some records have to stay.

If the law requires a record, or an open dispute or fraud investigation needs it, we keep only what is needed for that matter and restrict access. Backups are kept for a limited period and then overwritten; a deleted record may survive in a backup until the backup cycle ends.

Your rights

Ask, and we will tell you.

You can ask for a copy, a correction or a deletion. We may need to confirm it is you. We will tell you what we did, or why we cannot do it, within the time the law allows. The privacy policy lists the rights and the regulators.
