Terms of Service

The rules, in plain words.

These terms explain what Kurukoo does, how direct-pay and platform-collected payment routes differ, what providers owe you, and how disputes are handled.

Effective 23 October 2026 · Version 1.0

Who we are

Kurukoo is the assistant, not the plumber.

Kurukoo is a service for Nigeria, operated by the Kurukoo team. You can reach us at hello@kurukoo.ng. Company registration details are available on request.

Kurukoo helps you describe a job, find a provider, agree a price and track the work. Unless a page says otherwise, the person who does the work is an independent provider — not an employee, agent or partner of Kurukoo.

Some guidance services are delivered by Kurukoo's own AI. Those pages say so. The rest are delivered by independent people.

Using Kurukoo

A request is not a booking.

A request is you telling Kurukoo what you need. A booking exists only when you approve a quote and the provider accepts it. Nothing is booked, charged or sent from a chat message alone.

Prices, providers and availability are shown from real records. If nobody has given a price, you will not see one. If nobody near you can take the job, the page says so and records your demand instead of inventing supply.

  • You must be 18 or older to book paid work.
  • You need a phone number you control. Keep it and any handoff code private.
  • Give accurate details about the job, the address and anything that affects safety.
  • Tell us at once if someone else is using your account.
Money and payment routes

Direct pay and escrow are not the same.

For direct-pay service requests, you pay the provider directly using the route shown in the offer. Kurukoo records the agreed quote and a user-declared payment status; that record is not proof that Kurukoo received or verified the provider payment.

An internal escrow ledger row is a reconciliation record, not a segregated bank account or proof that funds are in Kurukoo custody. Treat a payment as platform-collected only when the app shows a completed, provider-verified checkout reference and status.

PSP-backed escrow funding and original-rail refund automation remain pilot/partial. Never assume money is held or a cash refund can be sent unless the app confirms the transaction route and the provider confirms the payment status.

Kurukoo Credits are closed-loop units bought for eligible Kurukoo digital services; they are not cash, cannot be withdrawn or transferred and do not earn interest. Reward Points are separate promotional perks. A cash refund returns through the original payment rail and does not also mint Credits.

Asking is free by default. Chat Pass adds 300 standard turns for ₦500 per 30 days. Credits pay only for eligible digital deliverables shown before approval. Providers pay a prepaid 30-day plan with qualified lead-opportunity allowances; there is no flat fee just to reply. A disclosed category commission applies only to successful transactions collected through an enabled Kurukoo checkout. Direct provider payments carry no Kurukoo transaction commission.

  • The payment route and recipient are shown before you approve.
  • Card details are handled by the payment provider. Kurukoo never asks for your PIN, OTP or bank password.
  • For direct pay, pay only the named provider using the exact method shown in the offer. Report any unexpected change of account or payment route.
  • Credits and Reward Points are not bank deposits, e-money accounts or insured balances. They cannot be withdrawn or transferred.
Cancellations and refunds

Review windows depend on the payment route.

The current NGN request policy uses a 7-day pre-fulfilment review window and a 48-hour post-completion dispute window. These are request and review windows; they are not a promise that Kurukoo can return cash for every payment type.

For direct-pay requests, you pay the provider directly and Kurukoo cannot reverse or return money it did not receive. Contact the provider about a refund, and use the request dispute route so the work and communications can be reviewed.

For a transaction collected through a Kurukoo-connected PSP checkout, any cash refund requires a verified refund from the provider on the original rail. Automated PSP refund execution remains pilot/partial; an internal ledger change, Credits entry or Reward Points entry is not proof that cash was returned.

A Credits reversal is used only for an eligible Credits purchase or service failure under the Credits terms. A marketplace cash refund is returned through the original PSP rail; the accounting reversal does not also credit the customer's Credits balance. The app must show the exact transaction route and refund status.

Providers

Independent people, checked before work.

Providers are independent. They set their own quotes, do the work and are responsible for their own taxes, licences and insurance. Kurukoo checks the phone, trade and area before a provider can take jobs. The paid provider badge adds ID and address checks.

Providers must accept only work they can do, show up when they accept, quote honestly, keep the conversation and evidence on Kurukoo, and send proof of completion through the request. They may not ask for a customer's phone number, address or payment details outside the platform.

What you must not do

No fraud, no illegal work, no end-runs.

Kurukoo can help you find a doctor, a legal draftsman, a tow or a security patrol. It does not provide medical diagnosis, legal representation, emergency response, lending, a savings account or investment advice. Those services come from the independent professional you choose.

  • Do not use Kurukoo to break the law, harm someone, or arrange weapons, drugs, sexual services, gambling or stolen goods.
  • Do not impersonate another person, scrape the service, probe it for weaknesses, or resell access.
  • Do not ask a provider to work outside Kurukoo to avoid fees, or move a conversation off-platform to hide a problem.
  • Do not send someone else's personal data without their permission.
  • Do not use Kurukoo as an emergency service. For fire, medical or police emergencies, call the emergency service directly.
AI

The assistant suggests. You decide.

Kurukoo uses AI to understand a request, draft a plan, suggest a quote and summarise a conversation. AI can be wrong. Check the price, the provider and the plan before you approve.

AI does not book a job, release money or decide a dispute. High-risk decisions — a dispute, a provider check, an account restriction — are reviewed by a person. The AI terms explain this in more detail.

Content and reviews

Your words stay yours.

You keep the content you send us. You give Kurukoo permission to use it to run the service, route the request and resolve a dispute. We do not sell it.

Reviews must be honest and about the work. We may remove a review that is abusive, reveals private information, or was written by someone who did not use the service.

Liability

What we are responsible for.

Kurukoo is responsible for running the assistant, the checks and the dispute process with reasonable care. A provider is responsible for the work they do.

To the extent permitted by law, Kurukoo's liability for a job is limited to the amount you paid for that job. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law — including fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Ending access

Either side can stop.

You can stop using Kurukoo at any time. We can suspend or end access if you break these terms, commit fraud, abuse a provider or customer, or put someone at risk. Where we can, we tell you why and how to appeal.

Any payment or dispute record is handled according to its route and the applicable policy, even if the account is closed. Direct-pay funds remain with the provider; Kurukoo does not keep a balance as punishment.

Law and disputes

Talk to us first.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If something goes wrong, write to hello@kurukoo.ng with the request number and what happened. We will try to resolve it directly.

If we cannot resolve it, the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction. Nothing here stops you from using a consumer protection body or a regulator that applies to you.

Changes

A new version gets a new date.

We may update these terms. When we do, we post the new version and its effective date on this page. If the change is material, we will tell you in the app or by message before it applies. Continuing to use Kurukoo after the effective date means you accept the new version.
